Change!!

Change is always painful. When I read Who Moved My Cheese , I immediately thought that resisting change is the greatest sins of all. I even used to think why many people are making a fuss about change. However, when it happens to you then you realise how difficult it is to adapt to changes.

After living in Chennai for almost 2 decades, I am leaving the city and heading north (north west to be precise) to Bangalore, the garden city (not anymore, I guess!).

Its been quite a eventful stint at Chennai (I like Madras than the current one) and would always cherish those memories. Suddenly, there is an anxiety about how will I adapt to the new environment. I guess, there is no other go but to adapt to that environment.

I am quite busy in winding up things at my current office and therefore, would be irregular in blogging (as though I have been regular all these days!?).

Hey Vasanth... I should not tell you about accepting change (My GE experience) but again its a nice experience to visit new places. You will find the place interesting if you are with family.

Chennai and Blr differences...

1.
Chennai - you can speak TAMIL so will feel at home. The command over the language is always a big plus.
Blr - You can ofcourse speak Tamil but restricted. One big problem...

2.
Chennai - weather is horrible without an A/C
Blr - Weather is cooler than an A/C

3.
Chennai - If you are looking for a hep crowd then Chennai is not the right place.
Blr - The place is HEP!!!

Leave all aside all the above mentioned there is yet another important factor thats the monetary part. I am sure companies in Blr pay more than in Chennai.

So dont worry about change man. Enjoy and come back to Chennai.

Ramesh - Thanks for that input on Bangalore. On the weather front, its basically the difference in the altitude. Bangalore is about 1000 mtrs (or feet)above sea level whereas Chennai is at sea level.

A comforting thought as you prepare to move to Bangalore. There is a school of thought that believes that, the more things change, the more they tend to remain the same. And I have noticed this to be mostly true, even when we get moved from one place to another.

Also, one curious point. I was just looking up a political map of India, and contrary to what we have been thinking thus far, Bangalore is actually almost due west of Madras, and not North West. Considering how different the weather is in these two places, it is unbelievable that they are even on the same(or almost same) latitude.
